Portland UK : Fog on the causeway

Not that often this happens here but when it does it really turns Portland into an island. Sometimes it can be the other way where from the other end of the causeway you can’t see Portland while it stays sunny and clear over that end.

The fog looked pretty thick from where I was standing.
Quite eerie don’t you think?

In some sense it’s nice to be “cut off” from the mainland like this.

I like to see it when the fog is 'hovering' around the centre of the island so that one can see the bottom of the island and the top of the island. I always call it the Island's necklace, and when it is hanging just over the top of the Island, Andy calls it Dream Topping. Funny, isn't it, how nicknames come about!

I like that too, I have a pic or two of the fog like that but they need scanning up, not got a scanner at the moment.

    Nice nicknames though. :o )
