“Westcliif and the unused beach”

Westcliff stood tall, a proud shoulder of Portland, constantly bearing the brunt of the westerly winds that lash Portland all too often in the winter.
It is a great vantage point for that stunning view along chesil beach. (As can be seen on this blog)

Here at the bottom, mainly due the fact chesil beach is so “roomy” and will never fill up with people, plus it’s not that easy to get to, we have an unused beach with larger stones, most fallen from the cliffs themselves over the years.

It’s a nice walk to take along the old pathway though, being careful as some of it has crumbled away.

Been many a ship hit this beach in years gone by, with loss of lives as a consequence of that sadly.
